Three beautiful college students are captured and cryogenically frozen. Awakening in the future (our present), they are unaware that their rescue has set in motion a chain of events linked to their past.
SYNOPSIS:
“Retroactivity” can be considered a live-action satire on Japanese cartoons and arcade games – it lampoons clichés found in such media but does not parody them, while creating a unique and compelling story at the same time. The story is about three college students – Katie Carson, Amanda Robinson and Sarah Lawson, who are captured and cryogenically frozen. 25 years later, the girls are rescued by a young man named Saverio Gazzara. Katie is later abducted by an organisation called the Seven Seals. She is unknowingly used as a test subject in a program called Project Gladiator. Katie is subsequently brainwashed to be an assassin, and is sent to New York and then Italy.
Saverio leads his associates – Yuri Goranski and Hans von Braun – on a daring suicide mission to destroy the Seven Seals’ base, believed to be in Austria. Upon their arrival, however, they discover that the ‘base’ is merely a decoy used to deter invaders. The mastermind behind Project Gladiator is revealed: Katie’s father – who started it out of a twisted need for perfection in his life. Katie herself arrives to kill them, but is de-programmed by Amanda and Sarah. Hans is injured in the escape and eventually dies in Saverio’s arms. Katie decides to help Saverio get revenge. She reveals the true location of the hideout – Switzerland. With Katie’s help (and after a brief period of mourning for their departed friend), the five survivors vow to rescue Katie’s mother, avenge Hans’s death and destroy all traces of the cursed project, resulting in a shockingly violent climax where the true consequences of Project Gladiator are revealed, along with the horrific end result.
I believe that a live-action satire of Japanese anime/manga with a British look and feel to it (reminiscent of classic TV shows such as “Blake’s 7″ and “Red Dwarf”) would appeal to mass audiences because it combines action, drama and humour all together into a clever and deeply moving sci-fi story. If you wish to see the screenplay, then please let me know and I will be happy to send it to you.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
